Father Of Three Leaves The Voice Coaches STUNNED With An Emotional Burning House Cover

Luke

Luke Cope earned a second chance at The Voice when his emotional performance of Cam’s “Burning House” convinced two coaches to turn their chairs during Season 30’s latest Blind Auditions.

The North Carolina native and father of three took the stage on Monday, October 5, as Queen Latifah, Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and Riley Green continued filling their teams. With the competition nearing the end of the Blind Auditions, every remaining spot had become increasingly valuable.

At the start of the episode, Levine had five spots available, while Latifah, Clarkson and Green each had four. All four coaches had already used their First-In buttons, meaning the remaining artists had to earn their places the traditional way.

Luke Cope Delivers an Emotional Performance

Cope performed “Burning House,” the emotional country ballad originally recorded by Cam.

For most of the performance, the coaches remained in their seats. Then, in the final moments, both Levine and Latifah simultaneously turned their chairs.

Green later explained why he ultimately decided not to join them. He said he heard some “tempo issues” early in Cope’s performance, which kept him from pressing his button.

Levine, however, was drawn to the emotion behind Cope’s delivery.

The coach said the performance made him stop and pay attention to what he was feeling. While Levine acknowledged that Cope still had some areas to work on, the singer’s power toward the end of the song ultimately convinced him to turn.

Levine also told Cope that there was something “extremely unique and special” about his voice.

With both Levine and Latifah fighting for him, Cope had a difficult decision to make.

The singer admitted that he was “conflicted” about which coach to choose before ultimately trusting his instincts.

In the end, Cope selected Queen Latifah as his coach.

That decision added another artist to Latifah’s increasingly competitive Season 30 team as the Blind Auditions approach their conclusion.

For Cope, the emotional performance not only earned him two chair turns but also gave him the opportunity to continue his The Voice journey with Latifah in his corner.
