Taylor Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce was filled with romance, but behind the scenes, reports suggest the couple also took careful steps to protect their financial future before saying “I do.”
The pair married on July 3, 2026, during a lavish ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Their marriage was announced when the arena’s giant outdoor screen lit up with the message “JUST & T MARRIED!”
Swift’s longtime publicist, Tree Paine, later confirmed several details in an official statement. The bride and groom both wore custom Christian Dior Haute Couture designed by Jonathan Anderson, while actor Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony. Instead of choosing traditional bridesmaids and groomsmen, Swift named her brother, Austin Swift, as her Man of Honor, while Kelce selected his brother, Jason Kelce, as his best man.

Reports claim the couple signed a prenuptial agreement
Weeks before the wedding, entertainment journalist Rob Shuter reported through his Naughty But Nice newsletter that Swift and Kelce had finalized a prenuptial agreement before getting married.
According to the report, Swift’s father, Scott Swift, who previously worked as a financial adviser at Merrill Lynch, played a leading role in overseeing the agreement.

One source described Scott as both supportive and highly protective of his daughter.
“Scott is the definition of a great father,” the insider reportedly said. “He’s spent his entire adult life protecting Taylor while giving her the freedom to become the biggest star in the world.”
The source added that while Scott is known for being friendly and approachable, he becomes especially focused when it comes to safeguarding Swift’s personal and business interests.
Protecting billions in combined assets
The reported agreement comes as both stars have built significant wealth.
According to Forbes, Swift’s estimated net worth stands at around $2 billion, while Kelce’s fortune is estimated at approximately $90 million.
The insider insisted the agreement was never viewed as a sign of distrust.

“When you’re dealing with nearly $2 billion in combined assets, a prenup isn’t a sign of mistrust,” the source said. “It’s smart business.”
The report also claimed Kelce fully supported the process and respected Scott Swift’s involvement.
According to the insider, there was no disagreement over the terms, with Kelce recognizing Scott’s role in helping build one of the entertainment industry’s most successful brands.
The source summarized the family’s approach by saying, “Taylor has romance in her heart and Scott has business in his head. The prenup isn’t about preparing for failure. It’s about protecting everything they’ve built.”

Where was the agreement signed?
Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed where their prenuptial agreement was signed or filed.
However, TMZ previously reported that several states connected to the couple were considered, including California, Rhode Island, Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee and New York.
Swift owns homes in Rhode Island, Tennessee and New York, while Kelce owns property in Kansas and plays for the Kansas City Chiefs in Missouri.
According to TMZ, California was ruled out, and Rhode Island appeared to offer the strongest legal protections for enforcing prenuptial agreements, protecting separate property and limiting judicial changes to contracts.
The outlet also suggested New York would likely be the least favorable option because judges there may scrutinize or even invalidate portions of prenuptial agreements under certain circumstances.
Tennessee wedding rumors
Another report from Page Six claimed Swift and Kelce legally married in Tennessee before hosting their public wedding celebration in New York.
According to an unnamed source, the couple quietly completed the legal paperwork during a private ceremony in Nashville the weekend before the Madison Square Garden event.
Swift has longstanding ties to Tennessee after relocating to Nashville as a teenager to launch her music career and still owns two homes in the state.
Flight tracking data from websites monitoring Swift’s private jet also showed several trips around June 28, including stops in Nashville, Philadelphia, where Kelce’s father Ed Kelce and brother Jason Kelce live, and Tampa, where Scott Swift resides, before the aircraft returned to Nashville and later flew to New York on June 30.

What could the prenup include?
Although the reported agreement has never been made public, family law attorney Sarah Luetto previously told Page Six that a couple with Swift and Kelce’s level of fame would likely prioritize confidentiality.
She suggested the contract could include non-disclosure and non-disparagement clauses designed to keep details of their relationship private if they were ever to separate.
At the same time, Luetto noted there could be exceptions allowing Swift to continue writing songs inspired by her personal life.
The attorney also speculated the agreement may clearly define which assets remain separate property, especially when it comes to Swift’s music catalog, future recordings and intellectual property.
For example, she said a re-recorded album completed during the marriage could otherwise become the subject of legal debate without clear language in a prenup.
Luetto further suggested the agreement might require any future disputes to be resolved through mediation or a private judge, helping shield sensitive matters from public court proceedings.
Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed the existence or details of any prenuptial agreement. The reported terms remain unverified.
