Kernersville singer Luke Cope nearly made it through his entire Blind Audition without a chair turning. Then, in the final moments, Adam Levine and Queen Latifah both hit their buttons after hearing his emotional performance of Cam’s Burning House.
The 33-year-old North Carolina singer brought a raw and vulnerable quality to the Season 30 stage. His voice was not completely polished, with some pitch and tempo issues early in the performance, but his tone and emotion quickly became impossible to ignore.

Riley Green immediately praised Luke’s song choice but pointed out that the tempo was a little off at the beginning. Kelly Clarkson focused more on the emotional side of the performance, while Adam felt Luke’s vocal imperfections were overcome by the power of his delivery.
Luke also became emotional while talking about his nana, adding another layer to an audition that was already deeply personal.

Just when it looked like Luke might leave without a chair turn, Adam and Queen finally turned almost at the same time.
Adam called Luke a “unique one” and praised the power he showed toward the end of the song. Queen, meanwhile, explained exactly what made her decide to take a chance on him.
She told Luke that he “sang from the heart” and that he moved her. Queen also saw his emotion as something he could use as a strength moving forward in the competition.
Luke ultimately had to choose between Adam and Queen, and his decision surprised at least one viewer.
He chose Team Queen.
Queen told Luke that his emotion could become his “super power,” making it clear why she believed he belonged on her team.
Who is Luke Cope?
Luke is a country-leaning singer-songwriter from Kernersville, North Carolina. He describes his music as “organic roots with southern rock” and spent years playing in bands around his hometown before turning more seriously toward songwriting.
He released his first single, Wings, in 2020 and became more active with original music in recent years. His debut EP, When We Were Young, arrived in 2024, followed by singles including Good Light Rain and Lady Down Lady.
Luke also recently released his second EP, The Devil and the Crow, a four-song project that he describes as the beginning of a new sound and direction.
The singer has said the EP explores some of the darker experiences in his life and represents some of his most vulnerable work.
Luke is also part of an acoustic trio called The Travelers with Jon Montgomery and Jacob Vaughn. The group is known for its three-part harmonies and emotional storytelling.

Away from music, Luke is a married father of three and the owner and founder of Cope’s Lawn and Turf, a business based in Kernersville.
His journey to The Voice also comes with a personal milestone. Luke revealed that he quit drinking five years ago, making his emotional appearance on the show another important moment in his life.
After coming within seconds of leaving the Blind Auditions without a chair turn, Luke now moves forward on Team Queen, with his emotional delivery potentially becoming one of his biggest strengths as the competition continues.
