Brandon Diaz waited 15 years for another chance on The Voice, and his long-awaited comeback finally paid off.
The 29-year-old singer first auditioned for the show during Season 4 when he was just 14. At the time, none of the coaches turned their chairs for him.
“I remember being so nervous,” Diaz recalled. “I didn’t really know myself as an artist, so I was kind of figuring that out.”

Instead of letting the rejection stop him, Diaz continued pursuing music. He was later accepted into Berklee College of Music and eventually began making music with his wife, Jackie Foster.
Foster is also familiar to The Voice fans. She competed during Season 14, joining teams led by Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and Alicia Keys before making it to the semifinals.

Now, 15 years after his first audition, Diaz returned to the Voice stage with something to prove.
“A chair turn is something I’ve been dreaming of since I was 14,” he said. “Being back here feels incredible, and I’m having major deja vu moments. I’ve been waiting for this for 15 years. My redemption!”
Diaz added that returning to the show felt like getting another opportunity to prove that he belonged.

Brandon Diaz earns a two-chair turn
Diaz performed Justin Timberlake’s Drink You Away during his Blind Audition, earning chair turns from Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah.
Clarkson was immediately impressed by his vocals.
“You can sing your behind off, sir. Vocally, you’re insane,” she told him. “I think you are so talented, man. You have that soulfulness going on.”
Diaz then revealed his history with The Voice, leaving Adam Levine and Riley Green wishing they had turned around for him.
“I wish I would’ve known all this before,” Levine admitted.
Green also acknowledged how difficult it had been not to turn his chair.
“And yet they didn’t,” Clarkson joked.

Queen Latifah then made her pitch.
“He’s been here. He needs some new energy. The vibe is right coming from the Queen,” she said. “I feel like you came with everything you needed to to win the show.”
Her words were enough to convince Diaz, who chose Queen Latifah as his coach and became the latest member of Team Queen.

After winning Diaz for her team, Queen Latifah praised his confidence and command of the performance.
“I loved Brandon’s confidence,” she said. “He owned that song from beginning to end.”
After waiting 15 years for his second chance, Diaz finally got the chair turn he had dreamed about since he was a teenager, giving his Voice journey a very different start this time around.
The Voice airs Mondays on NBC.
