Carson Daly could be leaving The Voice after Season 30 as a report reveals two unexpected reasons behind his reported exit

After hosting 30 seasons of The Voice, Carson Daly is reportedly preparing to step away from the NBC singing competition, ending a run that stretches back to the show’s debut in 2011.

According to The U.S. Sun, Daly has decided not to return as host for Season 31, with scheduling conflicts and family priorities playing the biggest roles in his decision.

A source told the outlet that balancing his commitments to Today while regularly traveling between New York and Los Angeles became increasingly difficult.

“Carson Daly is out. He’s not hosting Season 31,” the insider claimed. “He wasn’t able to make the upcoming season’s schedule work with his Today Show schedule.”

The source added that Daly’s growing workload at Today, combined with his desire to spend more time at home with his wife, Siri, and their four children, ultimately led him to step away from hosting.

“He remains an executive producer on it, and the door is open if he wants to return for Season 32,” the insider added.

If the report proves accurate, Season 31 would mark the first time in the show’s history that The Voice moves forward without Daly introducing viewers to the competition.

The veteran television personality, 53, has served as the program’s only host since its premiere in 2011, guiding audiences through every Blind Audition, Battle Round, Knockout, Playoff, and live finale while numerous celebrity coaches rotated in and out of the famous red chairs.

Daly is currently filming Season 30, making it his final season as host if he does not return next year.

Away from The Voice, Daly has been a longtime fixture on NBC’s Today, where he works primarily from New York City. Throughout the year, he has routinely flown to Los Angeles to film The Voice, juggling two of the network’s biggest programs on opposite sides of the country.

According to the report, maintaining that cross-country schedule eventually became unsustainable as his responsibilities at Today expanded and he looked to spend more time with his family.

Although he is reportedly stepping away from his on-camera role, Daly is not expected to sever ties with the franchise completely. The source said he will continue serving as an executive producer and could potentially return as host in a future season.

NBC has not publicly confirmed the report, and The U.S. Sun said the network did not respond to its request for comment.

Throughout his time on The Voice, Daly often emphasized that the contestants—not the host—were always the heart of the series. He has previously described the show as a place where he gets to watch “dreams come true” and praised its supportive atmosphere, saying it stands apart from many reality competitions by focusing on encouragement rather than conflict.

That steady, understated approach helped make Daly one of the most recognizable figures in the franchise, serving as the constant presence while generations of coaches came and went.

Fans will still have the opportunity to see him host Season 30, which premieres Monday, September 21, on NBC. The upcoming season features returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine, alongside newcomers Queen Latifah and Riley Green. If the reported exit becomes official, it will be Daly’s final season guiding contestants through the competition before someone new takes over the role.
