A Source Reveals Why Keke Palmer Is Not Earning the Same Salary as Longtime The Voice Host Carson Daly in Season 31

Keke Palmer is stepping into a new role on The Voice, but reportedly not at the same salary level as the longtime host she is replacing.

The actress and TV personality will host The Voice: Celebrity, a new version of NBC’s singing competition that will feature celebrities as contestants. Carson Daly, who has hosted The Voice for 16 years, will step away from the hosting chair for the celebrity edition while remaining involved with the franchise behind the scenes.

Keke Palmer Replaces Carson Daly as 'The Voice: Celebrity' Host

According to a report from The Sun, Palmer is expected to earn close to $2 million for hosting the new series. That figure is reportedly around $4 million less than Daly’s current salary.

A source told the outlet that Palmer’s reported fee covers only her hosting duties and does not include a producer credit. Her lower pay is also reportedly connected to the fact that this will be her first season as host.

Daly, meanwhile, has had years to build his position on the show. His reported salary increased over time as he continued leading the long-running NBC series.

Keke Palmer's salary for 'The Voice' hosting gig revealed — and it's a fraction of Carson Daly's paycheck

Palmer officially confirmed her new role on Tuesday, sharing the news with fans on Instagram.

“That’s right. It’s true. I’m hosting ‘The Voice.’ I’ll see you guys there,” she said.

The Voice: Celebrity is scheduled to premiere in 2027 and will introduce a major change to the show’s traditional format. Instead of undiscovered singers competing for a recording career, the new edition will feature celebrities from different areas of entertainment, including actors, musicians, influencers, athletes, comedians and reality TV stars.

Queen Latifah, Riley Green and Joe Jonas will serve as the three coaches.

The Voice Celebrity Season to Air in 2027, Keke Palmer to Host

Daly will not disappear from The Voice completely. While he will not host the celebrity edition, he is expected to remain involved as a producer. He will also continue his work as a co-anchor on Today.

Daly addressed the confusion about his future with the franchise after Palmer’s announcement, making it clear that he is not leaving The Voice.

“Many today have asked if I’m leaving the show. Nope,” Daly wrote on Instagram. He explained that the show is testing two different formats and said he would remain involved with the new celebrity version from behind the scenes.

The Voice makes two unprecedented changes to celebrity season as Keke Palmer replaces Carson Daly

Daly also acknowledged that he is “not the right” host for the celebrity edition, but he remains involved in helping launch the new format.

The reported pay gap highlights just how much Daly’s long history with The Voice has contributed to his position. Palmer may be taking over the spotlight for the celebrity edition, but Daly’s years with the franchise have clearly given him a very different deal.

Now, fans will have to wait until 2027 to see whether Palmer can make the new celebrity format her own.
