The emotional conclusion of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon Season 1 took a somber turn when the series paused its dramatic western romance to honor a member of its production family.

At the end of the season, a title card appeared reading, “In loving memory of Lori Romero.” Romero was a makeup artist and hairstylist who worked on one episode of the series starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly.

Romero died unexpectedly on January 1, 2025. According to her obituary, no official cause of death was listed. She was survived by her son, Julian Anzures, along with other immediate family members.

Her obituary also emphasized the importance of Romero’s work in the entertainment industry, describing her talent and specialization in high quality makeup and hair as central to her career. It noted that her film family was an especially important part of her life.

Romero’s career extended far beyond Ransom Canyon. According to IMDb, her professional credits dated back to 2016, with work on projects including The Marksman, The Harder They Fall, Deadly Illusions and End of the Road.

Her passion for the craft was also visible through the work she shared online. Before her death, Romero frequently used Instagram to showcase her makeup, hairstyling and special effects skills.

In October 2018, she posted an image featuring a man transformed with elaborate special effects makeup to look like a grisly monster, joking about Halloween in the caption. In another post, she displayed a realistic artificial wound created entirely through makeup and identified it as movie work.

Her portfolio also included numerous examples of hairstyles and hair-color transformations, highlighting the range of skills she brought to film and television productions.

Romero’s contribution to the industry was recognized by iATSE Local 480, where she had been a dedicated member for nine years. In a February 2025 death announcement, the union described her as specializing in high-quality makeup and hair and praised the talent and passion she brought to the movie industry while offering condolences to her loved ones.

Although Romero did not return to Ransom Canyon for Season 2, her career continued until her final project. She worked as a hairstylist on Coyote Vs. Acme, which is scheduled for theatrical release on August 28, 2026.
