Oliver Stark has reportedly returned to filming 9-1-1 after undergoing surgery for a broken ankle, following a series of stunt-related accidents that allegedly left four people injured during production of the ABC drama’s upcoming 10th season.
According to a report published by Deadline on Friday, October 9, Stark, 35, and three other performers sustained injuries of varying severity while working on the hit emergency series in recent months.

Stark reportedly broke his ankle while performing a stunt in late August. A source told Deadline that the scene involved a firefighter swinging from a car onto a fire truck. The actor subsequently required surgery but has since returned to the set, with production continuing during his recovery.
The same stunt allegedly resulted in an injury to a stunt double, who reportedly sprained his ankle while performing the sequence. According to sources cited by Deadline, the stunt double declined medical treatment at the time, meaning no injury report was submitted to the production team.

The outlet also reported that adjustments were made to the stunt mechanics following the double’s injury. However, Stark reportedly rolled his ankle while performing the scene afterward.
The incidents did not end there. A few weeks later, another stunt worker allegedly injured their arm after coming into contact with a set piece containing jagged metal. The worker reportedly went to a hospital, where they received stitches for the wound.

More recently, within the two weeks leading up to the report, a second stunt performer was hospitalized following an awkward landing on a platform designed to simulate collapsing ground.
Sources told Deadline that the performer was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Medical examinations reportedly revealed a broken rib and a minor compressed lung. It remains unclear whether the individual has since returned to work.
The reported accidents have drawn attention to the safety measures required during television productions, particularly on shows such as 9-1-1, which regularly feature firefighters, paramedics, rescue operations and physically demanding action sequences.

According to SAG-AFTRA’s published stunt safety standards, stunt coordinators are responsible for helping ensure the safety of performers and others on set while proactively working with the appropriate personnel on safety matters.
The reported injuries also come approximately two years after another troubling incident involving the series. A 9-1-1 crew member died after suffering a heart attack while driving home following a 14-hour overnight shift, according to Deadline.
While the latest reports involve injuries sustained during stunt work, the circumstances surrounding each incident differ, and the full details of the production’s response have not been publicly established.
As Stark continues his recovery and filming moves forward, further details about the incidents and the condition of the injured performers remain unclear.
