Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber have made their first public appearance since the death of their son, Presley Gerber, as the longtime couple continues to navigate an unimaginable family loss.
The 60-year-old supermodel and her husband, 64, were photographed walking together along Zuma Beach in Malibu, California, on Saturday, October 10. Holding hands and keeping a low profile, the couple appeared side by side in their first public outing since Presley died at age 27 on September 20.
Crawford and Gerber are also parents to daughter Kaia Gerber, 25.
Authorities Are Investigating Presley’s Death as a Suspected Overdose
According to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner obtained by PEOPLE, Presley died at a rehabilitation facility on September 20.
Dispatch recordings reviewed by PEOPLE indicated that a call reporting a cardiac arrest was sent to Santa Monica police at approximately 9:35 a.m. local time. A separate dispatch reportedly stated that emergency responders were being sent to the same address for a suspected overdose.

In a statement released on September 21, the Santa Monica Police Department confirmed that officers found Presley dead when they arrived at the facility. Detectives were investigating the death as a suspected overdose, and authorities said there was no indication of foul play.
The official cause and manner of death are to be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. The investigation remains ongoing.
Family and Friends Have Supported Crawford and Gerber
Presley had spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and substance use, including through his social media accounts and public appearances.

A source previously told PEOPLE that Crawford and Gerber had spent years trying to help their son, pursuing a range of treatment options. These reportedly included therapy, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, and various homeopathic approaches.
Another insider close to Crawford emphasized that the couple had remained deeply involved in Presley’s life and had consistently supported him through his difficulties.
“This was never a situation involving two absent Hollywood parents,” the source told PEOPLE, adding that the family had always been close and that Presley was deeply loved.

A person close to Kaia also described the family as being in “total shock” following Presley’s death. The source said Kaia valued her brother’s willingness to speak openly about his struggles and that the family was proud of his efforts to use his experiences to help others.
Crawford and Gerber’s latest outing marks their first public appearance together since the loss, with the couple seen holding hands as they spent time walking along the Malibu shoreline.
