Miley Cyrus is already looking beyond her upcoming Hollywood Bowl concerts, suggesting the highly anticipated performances could serve as a test run for a residency on her own terms.

The singer and actress discussed the idea during a Sept. 17 episode of Apple Music’s Zane Lowe Show, just one day before the release of her 10th studio album, Bass Persuades.

Cyrus, 33, explained that choosing the Hollywood Bowl was partly about keeping her performance routine close to home. She joked that after the show, she would only have a short drive before getting back into bed.

The two Los Angeles concerts are scheduled for Oct. 16 and Oct. 18, and Cyrus said she intends to finish early rather than use the venue’s full late-night cutoff. She described the setup as fitting naturally into the kind of routine she values.

That sense of familiarity could also be part of a much bigger plan.

The enormous demand for the two shows appears to have strengthened Cyrus’ belief that audiences are willing to come to her rather than requiring her to travel constantly. Nearly 1.5 million fans were reportedly in the presale ticket queue, a response that caught the singer’s attention.

During the interview, Zane Lowe suggested that Cyrus could need dozens of Hollywood Bowl performances to meet the level of demand. Cyrus agreed with the broader idea, explaining that the upcoming concerts represent a test of whether a residency model could work for her.

For Cyrus, the appeal is not simply about performing more shows. She emphasized the possibility of creating something larger while keeping control over how and where she works.

Her upcoming Hollywood Bowl dates will therefore carry significance beyond the two performances themselves. They could give Cyrus a chance to see whether a residency built around her own schedule and preferences is the next step in her live career.

The concerts will also mark Cyrus’ first major performances since she appeared at the Corona Capital music festival in Mexico City in November 2022, despite several performances at events and television specials in the years since.

Before taking the stage in Los Angeles, Cyrus will release Bass Persuades on Friday, Sept. 18.
