Taylor Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce brought together hundreds of family members, friends and celebrities, but several people who were once considered part of her closest circle were noticeably absent, prompting renewed discussion about how her friendships have changed over the years.

Among those drawing attention were Swift’s five godchildren. The singer is godmother to actress Jaime King’s son, Leo Newman, and to all four children of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds: James, Inez, Betty and Olin.

According to reports, none of the children attended the July 3 wedding celebrations at Madison Square Garden. Instead, flower girl duties reportedly went to the two oldest daughters of Jason Kelce and Kylie Kelce.

Swift’s connection to King dates back more than a decade. In 2015, King publicly revealed that she had chosen the pop star to be Leo’s godmother after the pair developed a close friendship. At the time, they frequently appeared together at public events and shared moments on social media.

People close to the situation have since suggested that the friendship gradually faded. Sources have previously claimed the relationship became more distant as King dealt with highly publicized personal and legal challenges involving custody of her children.

Another friendship that has reportedly cooled is Swift’s long relationship with Lively. For years, the actress and her family were among the singer’s closest companions. Swift even referenced daughters James, Inez and Betty in songs connected to her 2020 album Folklore, making their names familiar to millions of fans.

However, their friendship reportedly changed following Lively’s legal dispute with her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni. Court filings and private text messages made public during the case fueled speculation that tension had developed between the longtime friends, although neither Swift nor Lively has publicly discussed the current state of their relationship.

Lively and Reynolds were also absent from the wedding celebrations. Reports indicated the couple instead attended their daughter Betty’s horse competition in Lake Placid during the rehearsal festivities.

A source for King told Page Six in April 2025 that her friendship with Swift had “suffered because of the personal challenges” she has “faced over the past few years” — as she lost custody of Leo (pictured) and her elder son, James.

Several other former members of Swift’s famous friend group were also missing from the guest list.

Singer Todrick Hall, once a frequent companion of Swift, was not among the reported attendees. Sources have claimed their friendship cooled over time, although neither has publicly addressed the matter.

Model Martha Hunt, who appeared alongside Swift in the “Bad Blood” music video and was once part of her highly publicized circle of friends, was also absent despite attending the Eras Tour in 2023.

Meanwhile, fans also noticed that New Zealand singer Lorde did not appear at the wedding. Some reports have linked that absence to lingering tension connected to author and actress Lena Dunham, who remains one of Swift’s longtime friends and reportedly took part in the wedding celebrations.

Despite ongoing speculation surrounding her evolving friendships, those close to Swift have long described her as someone who values loyalty and tends to maintain relationships with people she deeply trusts, even as her inner circle naturally changes over time.
