Kelly Clarkson is embracing life on her own terms. During her latest Las Vegas residency show, the Grammy winner opened up about being single, telling fans she has no problem choosing peace over a relationship that no longer feels fulfilling.

Speaking to the audience during her Studio Sessions residency at Caesars Palace on Friday, Clarkson joked that people often ask why she is still single.

“People are like, ‘Oh, why are you single?’” she said. “And I’m like, ‘First of all, there are a lot of people out here making single look real good.’”

She continued with a laugh, explaining that watching other relationships has only reinforced her decision.

“If you didn’t really understand what I meant by that, it’s like you see relationships and you’re like, ‘I am so glad I’m going home alone,’” Clarkson told the crowd. “You know what’s not happening in my house? That.”

The singer then reflected on what she believes is the biggest challenge couples face. According to Clarkson, keeping romance alive over time is often more difficult than people realize.

“If you are in a relationship, the hardest part is just keeping that fire alive and still dating,” she said. “Still making it feel magical and not monotonous.”

Clarkson has remained largely private about her personal life since finalizing her divorce from talent manager Brandon Blackstock in 2022. The former couple shared two children, daughter River Rose, 12, and son Remy, 10.

Blackstock died in August 2025 at the age of 48 after battling melanoma.

Although Clarkson returned to The Kelly Clarkson Show following his death, she later confirmed that the Emmy winning daytime series will conclude after seven seasons. In a statement released earlier this year, she described ending the show as “not an easy decision,” but said it was the right choice for the next chapter of her family’s life, with a focus on spending more time with her children.

The show is expected to air its final episodes this fall, while Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency continues through Aug. 15.

Alongside her live performances, Clarkson recently released her new single, I’d Be Lyin’, on July 17.

This is not the first time the former American Idol champion has spoken candidly about dating. During another Las Vegas performance in July 2025, she admitted that she had stepped away from dating altogether.

“Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don’t,” she told fans at the time, adding that relationships are already challenging without the added pressure of life in the public eye.

“Dating is hard anyway,” Clarkson said during that earlier show. “Add a spotlight, and it can become a dumpster fire.”

With her latest comments, Clarkson made it clear she is content focusing on herself, her children, and her music, while reminding fans that being single can be just as fulfilling as being in a relationship.
