Adam Levine admits a rival Voice coach has a stacked team in Season 30 as the battle for the later rounds gets tougher

Season 30 of The Voice is still in its early stages, but Adam Levine is already admitting that he may have some serious competition.

During the latest episode, Levine praised rookie coach Queen Latifah after she won a four-chair battle for Chari, whose blind audition impressed all four coaches. Levine went as far as calling Latifah’s team “stacked” and said she may have the strongest group in the competition right now.

After winning the battle for Chari, Latifah explained how much the moment meant to her.

“When I was asked to be a coach on this show, I prayed about it, and this is one of the things I prayed for,” Latifah said. “That I can be helpful to someone who is so amazing and deserves to be seen in front of the world.”

Levine clearly took notice.

“Queen Latifah’s team is stacked. She came to play. She’s a gamer. I think she’s got the best team right now,” he admitted.

With Levine, Latifah, Riley Green and Kelly Clarkson all fighting for the Season 30 title, the competition is already getting intense. The blind auditions have also delivered a strong group of singers, making the battle for the later rounds even harder.

Adam Levine and Riley Green Also Have a Rivalry

Levine is not only watching Queen Latifah. He is also dealing with a growing rivalry with fellow coach Riley Green.

The two have developed a playful but competitive relationship since the season began. Levine even recalled his first reaction to Green when they started working together.

“When we first started, I was like, ‘Riley, don’t f— with me,’” Levine told in a recent interview.

That competitive energy was also clear during the Sept. 22 episode, when Miranda Lambert chose to work with Green instead of Levine.

Green was thrilled by the win and had no problem admitting that beating Levine felt especially satisfying.

“I’m so happy I got Harmony. She really made that song her own,” Green said. “The way she took over the stage, she’ll definitely be a big star. This victory is pretty sweet because there’s no better feeling than beating Adam.”

With four highly competitive coaches and a deep group of talented singers, Season 30 is already shaping up to be a fierce battle. For now, Levine himself believes Queen Latifah may have the strongest hand, but the season is still far from over

All the Artists on Team Queen

  • Mia Knight: 16-year-old Knight performed Sienna Spiro’s “You Stole The Show” and earned chair turns from Queen, Green and Clarkson. Ultimately, Queen used her “First In Button” to make the decision for Mia.
  • BigCountry: After singing “I Put A Spell On You” by Annie Lennox, the 37-year-old Army veteran got chair turns from Levine and Queen, followed by Green (Clarkson said she woulda, coulda, shoulda).
  • Marcus Ladden Jr.: The 19-year-old’s rendition of “Cry Me A River” by Julie London earned chair turns from Clarkson and Queen, but it was Queen’s acting bona fides that gave her the edge with this theater fan.
  • Alt Bloom: The Montanan musician sang Maren Morris’ “The Bones” and got chair turns from Queen and Green, and she was so inspired she brought out backup singers to help her musically woo her next Artist.
  • Morgan Lett: Team Queen’s “buttery” voice from Akron, Ohio blew listeners away with her range as she sang Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Goin’ Down.” Queen herself was impressed wtih how she put her own spin on the song, telling her Artist, “You did it your way, which tells me you can sing all kinds of songs your way.”
  • Bryan Jaymes: After James auditioned with “Every Time You Go Away” by Paul Young in his falsetto (despite speaking in a rich baritone), Queen said she loved how he “took that song apart and put it back together,” and Jaymes repaid the compliment by singing a snippet of her Living Single theme song. A match made in musical heaven.
  • Sophia Liano: Her emotional performance of “I Surrender” earned her a spot on Team Queen.
  • Chari: After her powerful 4-Chair-Turn-earning performance of “Get Here” by Oleta Adams, Levine literally stood up and begged Chari to join his team based on their mutual birthplace of Los Angeles, but it just wasn’t enough.
