Millie Bobby Brown has revealed that one of the most meaningful creative influences behind Enola Holmes 3 came from her own wedding to husband Jake Bongiovi. While portraying Enola Holmes as a bride in the latest installment of the popular Netflix franchise, the actress worked closely with the film’s costume department to design a wedding dress inspired by the gown she wore on her own special day.
Speaking in a recent interview, Brown explained that she collaborated extensively with Academy Award-winning costume designer Consolata Boyle to create Enola’s bridal look. Rather than simply wearing a costume chosen for her, Brown became actively involved in shaping the design, drawing inspiration from the wedding dress she had worn when marrying Bongiovi in 2024.

“We worked tirelessly on what that dress looked like,” Brown said, explaining that her real-life bridal gown served as an important reference during the design process. By incorporating elements from her own wedding, she hoped to make Enola’s appearance feel authentic while also reflecting the character’s personality and emotional journey.

Brown’s creative input extended beyond the dress itself. She also helped develop Enola’s bridal hairstyle, deciding that two braids would be woven into the design to symbolize the union between Enola and Lord Tewkesbury, portrayed once again by Louis Partridge. According to Brown, the elaborate hairstyle proved surprisingly heavy, joking that the wig was nearly being pulled off by the combined weight of the bun and braided sections.
Additional details released by Netflix offered further insight into the costume design process. Brown revealed that she routinely creates visual mood boards for her character before filming begins, providing costume designer Consolata Boyle with ideas for Enola’s signature looks. For the first wedding gown featured in the film, Brown envisioned delicate lace, a dramatic opening near the hem, and a long flowing veil and train that would create a timeless bridal appearance.

The film also features a second wedding ensemble that takes a noticeably different approach. Inspired by Herbert James Draper’s 1893 painting Go, Lovely Rose! Tell Her That Wastes Her Time and Mine, the gown embraces flowing Grecian influences. Brown explained that she wanted the dress to appear effortless, soft, and elegant, believing that this design best captured Enola’s free-spirited nature.
Brown’s connection to the costumes is especially personal because her own wedding remains a cherished milestone. She and Jake Bongiovi, the son of musician Jon Bon Jovi, quietly married during a private ceremony in May 2024 before celebrating again with family and friends during a destination wedding at Villa Cetinale in Italy later that October.
For the Italian celebration, Brown wore four different bridal looks throughout the festivities. Her ceremony gown, created by Galia Lahav, featured intricate lace detailing and a sculpted silhouette, complemented by a sheer Monvieve veil. She later changed into a high-necked lace reception dress paired with crystal-embellished Manolo Blahnik shoes before wearing an elegant Oscar de la Renta gown for the cake-cutting celebration and finally changing into an off-the-shoulder satin mini dress.

By incorporating elements of her own wedding into Enola Holmes 3, Brown brought an additional layer of authenticity to one of the film’s most important scenes. Her collaboration with Consolata Boyle demonstrates how personal experiences can shape costume design, allowing clothing to become part of a character’s storytelling rather than simply serving as period fashion.
The result is a wedding sequence that reflects both Enola Holmes’ growth as a character and Millie Bobby Brown’s own journey into married life, blending fiction and personal inspiration in a thoughtful and meaningful way.
