The expanding Yellowstone universe could become even more interconnected if stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser have their way. Following the successful first seasons of Dutton Ranch and Marshals, both actors have expressed support for a future crossover, suggesting it would help deepen ongoing family storylines while giving fans moments they have been eager to see.
Both spinoff series have already secured second-season renewals after attracting strong audiences. While Marshals follows Kayce Dutton’s next chapter and Dutton Ranch centers on Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, viewers quickly noticed that the shows rarely acknowledged major events happening in each other’s stories.
One of the biggest talking points among fans has been the aftermath of Monica Dutton’s death. Many expected Beth and Rip to play a visible role in supporting Kayce during such a significant loss, but that moment was never shown on screen.
Kelly Reilly believes that absence is understandable from a production standpoint, though she also considers it an opportunity for future storytelling.

According to Reilly, she imagines Beth and Rip would have attended Monica’s funeral before the events of Dutton Ranch began, even if viewers never witnessed it. She suggested that the first seasons of both series were primarily focused on establishing their own identities, making extensive crossover scenes difficult to include.
Now that both shows have found their footing, Reilly believes Season 2 offers a chance to strengthen the shared universe. She explained that creative teams often recognize areas they would like to improve after a show’s first season, and a stronger connection between Dutton Ranch and Marshals could be one of those adjustments.

Her comments suggest there is room for more interaction between the Dutton family members moving forward, allowing the emotional consequences of events in one series to naturally carry over into the other.
Cole Hauser also welcomed the idea of bringing the casts together again, but for a different reason.
Rather than focusing solely on dramatic family moments, Hauser hopes viewers can finally see Rip Wheeler and Kayce Dutton enjoy a positive scene together. Their relationship throughout the Yellowstone franchise has often been complicated by conflict, responsibility, and personal struggles.
Hauser said he would enjoy filming scenes where the two characters are simply able to get along and share lighter moments, something audiences have rarely seen despite their close family connection.
A crossover could also help maintain continuity across Taylor Sheridan’s growing television universe. As more spinoffs introduce separate storylines and casts, occasional shared events can reinforce the sense that all of these characters continue to exist within the same world.

While neither Paramount nor the show’s producers have officially confirmed crossover plans, Reilly referenced conversations involving executive producer Taylor Sheridan, director Christina Voros, producers, and new showrunner Benjamin Cavell about refining both series in their second seasons.
For now, any crossover remains speculative. However, with both lead actors publicly supporting the idea and both series continuing beyond their debut seasons, the possibility appears stronger than it did during their initial runs. Whether through a family gathering, a shared investigation, or a personal reunion, many fans will likely be watching to see if Beth, Rip, and Kayce finally share the screen again.
