Blood Of My Blood Shocker – Brian Learns Ellen Is Pregnant As Henry And Julia’s Reunion Turns Heartbreaking

Brian and Ellen in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

Despite seemingly impossible odds, Henry Beauchamp makes it back to the 18th century in Season 2, Episode 4 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood. But his return brings little cause for celebration when he reunites with Julia and reveals two devastating truths: he has been intimate with Seema, and he can no longer remember their daughter, Claire.

Meanwhile, Brian Fraser discovers that Ellen MacKenzie is pregnant, giving the couple a moment of happiness amid the escalating conflict. With dangerous battles approaching and family loyalties being tested, the episode, titled “A Portion of My Soul,” delivers major revelations on both sides of the story.

Henry Returns to the 1700s but Cannot Remember Claire

Shortly after Henry travels through the standing stones, he is captured and brought before Arch Bug. Arch is preparing to kill him when Murdina Bug notices the marks left by Henry’s electroconvulsive therapy and interprets them as evidence that he has encountered fairies.

Realizing he has little to lose, Henry shows them the stitches on his scalp and explains that the “wee folk” put lightning in his head. The explanation frightens the Bugs enough that Arch apologizes for previously telling Henry that Julia and their son were dead. He then updates Henry on the latest developments involving the Grants.

When Uncle Mac orders Henry to be whipped for running away, Arch only pretends to carry out the punishment. He fears that angering the fairies could bring supernatural trouble upon him, giving Henry a temporary reprieve.

Meanwhile, at Castle Leathers, Julia intercepts a letter intended for Lovat and discovers that Henry has returned. Overwhelmed with emotion, she tells Davina that she is going to her husband. Neither woman realizes that Seema overhears their conversation.

Disguised in men’s clothing and carrying a small blade borrowed from Davina, Julia travels to the Grants’ quarters. Henry is overjoyed to see her and immediately embraces her, asking about their son, William. Julia assures him that the boy is safe before asking about the marks on Henry’s body.

As Henry recounts what happened after he returned to his own time, Julia gradually realizes that he has not mentioned Claire. She directly asks whether he went to London to find their daughter.

Henry’s reaction reveals the devastating truth: he cannot remember Claire at all.

Henry’s Memory Loss and His Confession About Seema

Brian and Dougal in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

Horrified by what has happened to her husband, Julia asks what the doctors did to him. Henry explains that they attempted to erase his traumatic memories of war, but the emotional pain associated with abandoning Claire was even more profound.

“They burned her out of me with their wires and their current,” he says, overwhelmed by grief.

Henry admits that he sometimes struggles to distinguish what is real from what is not. Julia is devastated that, after everything they have endured to return to their family, Henry has lost his memories of their daughter.

The situation becomes even more painful when Julia asks about Seema.

Henry initially insists that things are not what Julia thinks, but she demands an honest explanation. He recounts the mental breakdown he experienced after believing Julia and William were dead, including the time he slept with Seema while imagining she was his wife.

Julia is disgusted, while Henry breaks down in tears. He explains that his grief damaged him and that realizing what he had done felt like losing Julia all over again.

When she asks why he did not tell her after they were reunited, Henry admits that he was a coward.

Julia eventually tells him that she can forgive him, but forgetting what happened will take time.

Despite her anger and heartbreak, she urges Henry to find the person he used to be, for her and their children. He promises to try, and Julia tells him that they can work toward forgetting together when he returns safely.

With Henry preparing to leave for battle, the couple decide to put their differences aside temporarily. Julia tells him that she needs her husband that night, and they spend the night together despite the unresolved pain between them.

The following morning, Henry finds Julia at his desk. She has written him a letter marked “SWAK,” an affectionate abbreviation for “sealed with a kiss.”

“You wrote first last time. Now it’s my turn,” she tells him, asking him to bring the letter home when he returns safely.

They exchange kisses and declarations of love before Henry departs with the Grant men.

Julia Returns Home to a Disturbing Discovery

After Henry leaves, Julia returns to Castle Leathers, only to discover that both Davina and William are missing.

A troubling sign has also been left in the baby’s cradle, raising further questions about what has happened in her absence.

Seema then appears with a knife, speaking frantically about how she and Henry truly loved each other. With Julia’s child and trusted companion nowhere to be found, the situation takes a sinister turn.

The episode leaves Julia facing a new and immediate threat just as she is trying to come to terms with Henry’s return and the emotional devastation surrounding their reunion.

Ellen Reveals Lovat’s Betrayal

Seema in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

Elsewhere, Ellen and Grace arrive at Lovat’s camp to warn the men that Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, has betrayed them and plans to ambush Dougal MacKenzie.

Ellen explains that Lovat has been promised the restoration of his title by the Duke of Argyll, motivating him to change sides.

Brian and Murtagh confront Lovat, who does not deny the betrayal. He argues that once he captures Inverness for the Crown, Brian will benefit by receiving a title of his own.

Brian rejects his father’s offer and makes his allegiance clear.

“You taught me an oathbreaker deserves no loyalty,” he tells Lovat, choosing Ellen over his father.

Brian leaves with Ellen, Grace and Murtagh, but Simon Fraser dispatches his henchman, Balloch, to pursue them.

The group intercepts Dougal and his men before they ride into the trap. Ellen also warns her brother that MacKinney’s apparent lack of loyalty to the MacKenzies makes his presence among Dougal’s troops suspicious.

Although Dougal initially wants to continue toward Inverness, Ellen and Brian persuade him to head south to Perth to join the other forces.

Ellen then delivers another painful piece of news: Janet is dead.

Dougal immediately asks about Maura and is visibly relieved to learn that she is safe. He subsequently tells Brian that they will put their differences aside until the war is over, provided they both survive, before settling their personal conflict.

Later, Jocasta’s husband, John Cameron, encounters Grace in the camp. He questions her presence before leading her into his tent. Grace’s body language suggests that she may be uncomfortable with the situation, leaving her fate uncertain.

Brian Discovers Ellen Is Pregnant

Amid the preparations for battle, Brian and Ellen find a quiet moment together.

Brian asks Ellen about Janet, and she replies that Janet would eventually have liked him. Ellen then begins to question whether their relationship can survive the war, their family conflicts and the uncertainty surrounding their future.

Brian reassures her that he is committed to her.

As they begin to become intimate, Ellen stops him and places his hand on her stomach, revealing that she is pregnant.

Brian’s expression changes immediately. Haunted by his own father’s example, he worries that he will become a terrible parent.

Ellen reassures him that Simon Fraser’s actions do not determine the kind of father Brian will be.

“Our child?” Brian asks, struggling to take in the news.

“Our child,” Ellen confirms.

Overcome with emotion, Brian kneels and places his hands gently on her abdomen before kissing it. The revelation gives them a rare moment of shared happiness before they must part again.

They subsequently share an intimate farewell, knowing that Brian will soon be heading into battle.

Murtagh and Grace Share a Tender Moment

Julia and Davina in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

While Brian and Ellen confront the prospect of parenthood, Murtagh and Grace continue to develop the connection that began at Leoch.

Sitting near a fire, the pair flirt until Murtagh attempts to cover Grace with his plaid to protect her from the cold. She quickly gets up and leaves.

The following morning, Murtagh apologizes for being too forward. Grace assures him that she was not offended; his gesture simply caught her by surprise.

She then gives him a small cloth flower and sews it onto his cuff so that he will remember there is still kindness in the world.

Their hands linger together briefly before Grace blesses him and leaves, suggesting that their growing affection may have a future despite the uncertainty surrounding them.

Ellen and Brian Say Goodbye Before the Battle

Before Brian leaves with the men, he and Ellen meet privately in a clearing.

Ellen asks him to fight as though he has everything to lose, fearful of what the coming battle might mean for their future together.

She worries that she has no token to give him to remember her by. Brian reminds her that she has already given him something far more meaningful: their unborn child.

The couple are forced to separate once again, with Brian heading toward the dangers of war and Ellen left to face an uncertain future at home.

Their goodbye provides one of the episode’s most poignant moments, contrasting the hope of new life with the very real possibility of loss.

As “A Portion of My Soul” concludes, both families face pivotal turning points. Henry must confront the damage caused by his treatment and rebuild his relationship with Julia, while Brian carries the news of Ellen’s pregnancy into battle. Meanwhile, Julia’s alarming discovery at Castle Leathers suggests that her troubles may be far from over.
