Fans of All Creatures Great and Small have reason to look forward to another chapter in the Yorkshire Dales. Channel 5 and Masterpiece PBS have officially renewed the beloved drama for Season 8, ensuring that the lives of the Skeldale House residents will continue beyond the emotional events of the seventh season.
The confirmation is particularly welcome after a finale that left the characters facing an unexpected romantic upheaval. Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West) called off his wedding to Dorothy (Maimie McCoy) after realizing that his feelings for Mrs. Hall (Anna Madeley) were stronger than he had admitted. However, although Siegfried recognized what his heart wanted, he did not find the courage to explain the truth to Mrs. Hall, leaving their relationship in an uncertain position.
Season 8 Is Already Officially Confirmed

The renewal was part of a two-season order, with Channel 5 and Masterpiece PBS confirming both Seasons 7 and 8 simultaneously. This means the series has a future beyond the cliffhanger, giving the writers room to explore the consequences of Siegfried’s decision and the changing relationships within the Skeldale House family.
Season 8 is expected to follow the show’s familiar structure, with six regular episodes and an accompanying holiday special.
Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor at Channel 5, previously described the series as a “jewel in 5’s drama crown.” He praised its warmth, humor and beautiful Yorkshire Dales setting, while indicating that there are still plenty of adventures ahead for the characters.
When Will the New Episodes Arrive?

The upcoming Christmas special is expected to air in late December 2026 on Channel 5 in the UK, followed by a Masterpiece PBS debut. Season 8 is anticipated to premiere in autumn 2027, with a US broadcast expected the following January.
These projected dates give viewers a rough idea of when they may return to Skeldale House, although the supplied schedule does not establish a specific premiere day.
The Season 7 Cliffhanger Leaves Siegfried and Mrs. Hall in Limbo
The biggest question heading into the next chapter is what will happen after Siegfried’s wedding-day decision. While preparing his wedding remarks, memories of Mrs. Hall overwhelmed him, prompting him to reconsider his plans to marry Dorothy at the last moment.
The decision revealed feelings that Siegfried had seemingly kept buried, but it did not immediately bring him closer to Mrs. Hall. He still struggled to express what had driven him to cancel the wedding, meaning she remained unaware of the real reason behind his actions.

That silence could make the aftermath especially complicated. Siegfried must deal with the consequences of ending his engagement, while Mrs. Hall may have to make sense of a situation without knowing what was happening in his heart.
Dorothy’s position also leaves room for further emotional developments. Maimie McCoy, who returned to the ensemble after a hiatus, has praised the reunion and the depth the storyline brought to her character.

With the Christmas special and Season 8 ahead, All Creatures Great and Small has plenty of unresolved feelings to explore. The future of Skeldale House may be secure, but whether Siegfried can finally be honest with Mrs. Hall remains one of the biggest questions left by the finale.
