Megyn Kelly has sharply criticized Olivia Rodrigo after the singer spoke out in support of the Jane Doe at the center of the Cornell 7 lawsuit, accusing Rodrigo of speaking on an issue she did not understand.
On a Monday episode of her YouTube show, Kelly called Rodrigo a “know-nothing moron” and told the singer to “shut up and stick to singing.”
“Olivia, in sum, you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about,” Kelly said, before adding that she preferred Rodrigo when she was “in front of a microphone singing” her songs.
Kelly also argued that celebrities who become famous should not automatically assume they have something meaningful to contribute to cultural debates. She further criticized Rodrigo’s decision to comment on the case, saying, “We don’t need the participation of know-nothing morons who have been auto-tuned into fame and suddenly think they have something profound to say on the culture wars.”
The criticism came one day after Rodrigo publicly voiced support for Jane Doe on Instagram. The singer wrote that she was ashamed of Cornell and institutions that protect alleged rapists and abusers over women, adding that she stood with Jane Doe and believed she deserved answers, consequences and lasting change.

The Cornell 7 lawsuit was filed by an unnamed Cornell University student who alleges that seven men raped and drugged her at a fraternity party in October 2024. She sued the university, claiming it failed to protect her and prevent the alleged assault.
According to the lawsuit and reporting cited by Variety, a university investigation resulted in two of the seven men being expelled, while the other five received lesser disciplinary measures. The lawsuit alleges that some of the men submitted essays to the university in an effort to reduce their punishments, according to Jane Doe’s attorney.
Rodrigo is among several celebrities who have recently spoken publicly about the case. Florence Pugh, Mariska Hargitay, Hudson Williams and Josh Gad have also used their platforms to condemn the allegations and the university’s handling of the matter.
The case has continued to draw public attention as questions remain about the university’s disciplinary response and the allegations made in Jane Doe’s lawsuit.
