Behind Alice Cooper’s shock-rock persona is a family that has spent decades sharing his life onstage and behind the scenes.

The legendary musician has been married to Sheryl Goddard for nearly five decades, and their three children — Calico, Dashiell “Dash,” and Sonora Cooper — have each built careers connected to entertainment, music, performance or the creative arts.

The family recently marked another milestone when Alice and Sheryl renewed their wedding vows in March at Phoenix’s Wrigley Mansion, surrounded by 220 guests. Their custom renewal rings were designed by Jewels From Ipanema, a jewelry company founded by longtime family friends Jimmy Chase and Denise Monti.

The 18k yellow-gold rings featured cabochon-cut rubies and diamonds and were created with Alice’s lifestyle in mind, including his need to comfortably hold a microphone and swing a golf club.

Sheryl Goddard: The dancer who became Alice’s wife

Alice first met Sheryl Goddard when she joined his Welcome to My Nightmare tour as a dancer in 1975.

A trained ballerina, Sheryl performed during the song “Only Women Bleed.” At the time, she was unfamiliar with the world of rock music and admitted that her musical knowledge was largely rooted in classical composers such as Bach, Rachmaninoff, Schumann and Mozart.

The two grew closer while traveling together. Alice later recalled that their relationship developed through moments backstage and on tour, eventually convincing him that they should continue seeing each other.

They married the following year in Acapulco, Mexico, beginning a partnership that has lasted nearly 50 years. Sheryl continued performing alongside Alice and became part of the theatrical world surrounding his shows.

Calico Cooper: From touring dancer to frontwoman

Born in 1981, Calico Cooper began dancing when she was just 3 years old. She eventually followed her parents onto the stage, performing in her father’s shows as a teenager before joining him full-time for the Brutally Live tour in 2000.

Although she grew up around sold-out concerts and rock-star theatrics, Calico has described her father as a hands-on parent who made time for ordinary family life. She recalled that Alice could move from playing arenas to teaching soccer, refusing to believe he had to choose between his career and being a father.

Calico eventually established her own identity in music. She became the frontwoman of the metal band Beasto Blanco, while also pursuing acting, including an appearance on Hawaii Five-0 in 2015.

She has also spoken about wanting to prove herself independently rather than simply being known as Alice Cooper’s daughter. Calico has been married to fellow actor Jed Williams since 2015.

Dash Cooper: Alice’s only son

Born in 1985, Dashiell “Dash” Cooper is the family’s only son and followed his father into rock music.

Growing up around Alice exposed Dash to an unusually broad range of musical styles. He eventually developed his own tastes and began writing music before becoming the frontman of Runaway Phoenix.

After graduating from Arizona State University in 2010, Dash went on to form the band CO-OP, his current musical project.

He has also credited his father as an important mentor. Dash described Alice as someone who offered guidance while maintaining enough distance for his son to develop independently.

Dash was previously married to Morgan Cooper, with whom he has twin sons Falcon and Riot, born in 2014, and son Rexington, born in 2018. The couple reportedly separated sometime after 2021.

Sonora Cooper: The family’s makeup artist

The youngest of Alice and Sheryl’s three children, Sonora Cooper, was born in 1992.

She initially shared her siblings’ interest in performance and danced while working with her father. Her career direction changed when she discovered a talent for makeup, particularly after having to create different character looks during Alice’s shows.

Sonora eventually developed a specialty in special-effects and horror-inspired makeup. Her work has even included transforming her famous father, including a vampire-inspired look she shared on Instagram.

Away from the stage, Sonora married her high school sweetheart Diego Diaz. The couple moved back into the Cooper family home during her pregnancy with their daughter Desiree in 2020.
