HBO has released more than 20 new photos from The Gilded Age Season 4, Episode 2, giving fans a closer look at what comes after the season premiere on November 1. The images feature familiar faces, unexpected reunions and a few tense moments that could hint at trouble ahead for some characters.
One of the first reunions shows Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) returning from England and seeing her husband, George Russell (Morgan Spector), again. However, their expressions suggest that the reunion may not be as warm as expected.

Bertha is also seen attending a formal event, where she interacts with Enid van Rhijn (Kelley Curran), formerly known as Enid Turner, and Mrs. Astor (Donna Murphy). Enid previously worked as Bertha’s lady’s maid before being dismissed. She has since married Oscar van Rhijn (Blake Ritson).
The new photos also bring back Simon, played by Lucas Iverson, who is known for his role in The Pitt. Simon is one of Larry Russell’s friends from Harvard, making his return another familiar moment for longtime fans.
Larry (Harry Richardson) also appears in a tense-looking conversation with his father, George. The photos do not reveal what the two are discussing, but their interaction suggests there may be more family conflict ahead.

However, one notable detail in HBO’s photo collection is the absence of Larry and Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) together.
Their relationship took a major turn in the November 1 premiere when the two became intimate for the first time. The decision could have serious consequences for both characters, especially given the social expectations surrounding unmarried couples in 19th-century New York.
Richardson recently discussed the storyline in an interview with TV Insider, explaining that Larry genuinely wants to marry Marian but is now afraid he may have destroyed his chances.
“There’s also the very real realization that he might have just ruined his future of being married to her,” the actor said.

Richardson explained that Larry fears he has made a mistake by acting on his feelings before resolving the issues between them. The couple has already experienced several setbacks because of trust issues, and Larry’s impulsive decision could make things even more difficult.
“I think because he has done it in the wrong order, so to speak, and he does really want to marry her, and they have gone back and forth with both of them having trust issues…and then he lets his impulse get the better of him,” Richardson explained.
The actor added that Larry soon realizes the possible consequences of his actions, not only for his future with Marian but also for someone he deeply cares about.
“He also then realizes that not only has he now hurt someone who he cares about so much, but he’s possibly lost her forever,” Richardson said.

“That brings along a huge weight and humbling and fear for him as well, which we see him grapple with through the season.”
With no new photo showing Larry and Marian together, HBO has left fans wondering how their relationship will develop in the next episode.
Meanwhile, Season 4 is already off to a strong start for the network. According to Deadline, the premiere attracted nearly 4 million U.S. viewers across platforms during its first three days of availability, marking a record for the series.
The Gilded Age Season 4, Episode 2, premieres Sunday, November 8, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max. New episodes will continue airing every Sunday through the December 20 finale.
