Support continues to pour in for the family of Nolan Wells, the 18-year-old Mississippi football player whose death has sparked an ongoing investigation, after media entrepreneur Byron Allen made a six-figure donation to the family’s GoFundMe campaign.
According to multiple reports, Allen contributed $100,000 on July 11, providing one of the largest single donations to the fundraiser established after Wells’ death. The campaign was created to help cover funeral costs and ease the financial burden on Nolan’s family as they continue seeking answers about what happened during his final hours.

Allen’s contribution significantly boosted the fundraiser, pushing it beyond $500,000 as donations continued arriving from supporters across the country.
His donation joins those from several other high-profile figures, including comedian Lil Rel Howery and Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight, who have also contributed to the campaign.
Family Receives Help From Several Prominent Supporters
The growing support was highlighted during a press conference held alongside civil rights attorney Ben Crump and Rev. Al Sharpton, who have both been assisting the Wells family since Nolan’s death.
During the event, Crump announced that former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has agreed to fund an independent autopsy for Nolan, while filmmaker Tyler Perry has offered to pay the family’s funeral expenses.

Sharpton is also expected to officiate Nolan’s funeral service.
Standing beside the family’s supporters, Nolan’s mother, Christine Wonsley, shared an emotional message as she continued to call for answers.
“We just want to know what happened and why our baby didn’t come home,” she said.
Family Continues to Seek Answers
Nolan Wells, a wide receiver at Southwest Mississippi Community College, disappeared after traveling to Horn Island with friends during a Fourth of July boating trip.
His body was recovered two days after he was reported missing, and investigators continue working to determine exactly what happened.
Although local authorities have said they have not found evidence pointing to foul play, Nolan’s family has repeatedly questioned the timeline surrounding his disappearance and has requested both an independent investigation and an independent autopsy.
The teenager had been preparing for his sophomore football season and dreamed of transferring to a major Division I program before eventually pursuing a professional football career.
Mother Asks Supporters to Honor Nolan Peacefully

As public attention surrounding the case continues to grow, Christine Wonsley urged supporters to remember Nolan in a way that reflects who he was.
“Please be peaceful,” she said. “Nolan was not someone who liked fights or physical confrontations. He didn’t really like arguments.”
She encouraged those standing behind the family to avoid anger or retaliation while continuing to seek justice.
“Think about what Nolan would want,” she said. “He wouldn’t want that type of behavior.”
With financial support continuing to arrive from public figures and thousands of donors, the Wells family says its primary focus remains uncovering the truth about the circumstances surrounding Nolan’s death while honoring the life of the young athlete.
