In an emotional Top 7 elimination episode of American Idol Season 24, attention once again turned to the relationship between Rae Boyd and Brooks Rosser, one of the season’s most followed couples.
While Brooks returned to his hometown of Maryland for a special performance segment, Rae Boyd was not present in the live audience. Instead, she watched from a local watch party and reacted in real time on her Instagram Stories as Brooks delivered emotional performances of “Love Story” by Taylor Swift and “She Will Be Loved” by Maroon 5.

Although Rae was not shown crying on the official broadcast, her reactions made it clear she was deeply emotional while watching from afar. She later wrote, “I love him so much. I have no words,” capturing how overwhelmed she felt seeing Brooks perform in his hometown.
Brooks also acknowledged Rae during his pre-taped segment before performing “She Will Be Loved,” saying, “I hope Rae feels loved,” and confirming that the couple had already exchanged “I love you” during their time on the show.

Despite his strong performances, Brooks ultimately landed in the bottom two of viewer votes and was eliminated alongside Daniel Stallworth in the April 27 episode, bringing his American Idol journey to an end just before the finale.
Following his exit, Brooks reflected on his experience on the official American Idol podcast with Danielle Fishel, saying he never expected to make it as far as he did. He expressed gratitude for the journey, the support from the judges, and the friendships he formed, adding that he was “so proud” of how far he had come.

However, the story did not end there. Just days after both had exited the competition, Rae having been eliminated earlier in the season, the couple reunited in Maryland. Brooks shared a photo of the two together on a date night on his Instagram Story, showing that their relationship continued beyond the show.
Rae later reposted the image with a simple caption, “Night out :),” confirming their reunion after the intense competition schedule. The moment highlighted how their connection, which began during American Idol auditions in Maryland, continued to grow even after their eliminations.

Both Brooks and Rae are now expected to return to Los Angeles for the American Idol Season 24 finale on May 11, where previously eliminated contestants will reunite for special performances as the winner is officially crowned.
Their post-show reunion and continued relationship have become one of the most talked-about storylines of the season, turning their American Idol journey into both a competition arc and a real-life love story.
