Stella Lefty has officially become the subject of a Saturday Night Live sketch, with Colin Jost and Veronika Slowikowska poking fun at the controversy surrounding the singer’s hit song “Boston” and allegations that she borrowed melodies from other artists.
NBC released the previously unaired clip on October 1 after the sketch was left out of last Saturday’s broadcast.
SNL Mocks Stella Lefty’s “Boston” Controversy
The sketch features Jost bringing Slowikowska, who portrays a fictionalized version of Lefty, to the Weekend Update desk.
Jost begins by noting that Lefty’s song “Boston” reached No. 1 on the country charts despite claims that its melody resembles Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season.”
In real life, Lefty ultimately gave Kahan’s songwriters credit on “Boston,” helping resolve the dispute.
The controversy has not completely disappeared, however. Listeners have continued comparing some of Lefty’s other songs with existing hits, including Blake Shelton’s “I’ll Name the Dogs” and the Chicks’ “There’s Your Trouble.”

The controversy, combined with discussions surrounding Lefty’s background and rapid rise to fame, has kept her in the spotlight.
Veronika Slowikowska Takes the Joke Even Further
In the sketch, the fictionalized Lefty maintains an exaggeratedly “authentic” persona while attempting to explain her music.
She then previews several supposedly original songs that are unmistakably familiar to the audience.
Slowikowska performs comedic versions of Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club,” Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” the Barenaked Ladies’ “One Week” and even the Harry Potter theme.
At one point, Jost delivers the punchline: “Stella, you’re stealing again.”
The sketch also features a spoof album cover inspired by Nirvana’s iconic Nevermind artwork, complete with a deliberately outrageous detail.

One of the final jokes comes when Slowikowska performs a Boston-themed version of The Lion King’s “Circle of Life,” continuing the sketch’s running gag about Lefty’s apparent habit of borrowing familiar material.
Stella Lefty Reacts to the SNL Sketch
Lefty herself appeared to take the joke in good humor.
After seeing the clip, she shared it to her Instagram Story and commented, “funny asf tbh.”
She also complimented Slowikowska’s singing.

The sketch was not part of the live broadcast and was instead released online as previously unaired material. Still, its release shows how the controversy surrounding “Boston” has crossed over from online music discussions into late-night comedy.
