‘Uncle Snoop’ Dogg Reveals Why He Decided to Leave The Voice After Two Fun Seasons With His “Lost Brothers”

He brought the swagger, the humor, and the West Coast charm to The Voice but after two seasons, Uncle Snoop Dogg seems to be stepping away from the NBC singing competition for good.

Snoop, who joined the show as a full-time coach in Season 26 and returned for Season 28 alongside Michael Bublé, Niall Horan, and Reba McEntire, confirmed in a recent interview that he won’t be returning for next seasons. While he described his time on the show as “a beautiful ride,” he admitted that The Voice might not be the perfect fit for him.

Snoop Dogg Comforts a Contestant on 'The Voice' After No Chair Turns

“I had a great time on The Voice. I ain’t gonna front,” Snoop said. “But this just ain’t really my lane, you know what I’m saying? I love music, I love people, but I think this gig works better for folks who can give it their full heart every day. Me, I got too many moves going on outside the show.”

According to production insiders, the decision was mutual. “He was brought back this season per his contract, but he hasn’t been working out the way everyone hoped,” a source told The U.S. Sun. “Snoop doesn’t seem entirely interested in the job anymore or invested in the contestants. Mutually, I think everyone agrees this isn’t the best gig for him.”

The insider also noted that Snoop’s growing involvement in politics — particularly his recent public support for former President Donald Trump — raised some eyebrows behind the scenes. “Then all the outside noise, his politics, and all of that… it’s not a good look,” the source said. “People were upset he brought the dark and ugly energy of politics into the conversation of a show that actively tries to be an escape from all of that.”

Snoop, however, insists that there’s no bad blood. “The folks on The Voice — man, they’re my people,” he said. “Reba, Niall, Michael… we like lost brothers and sisters out there. The love is real. I just feel like it’s time to move on and let somebody else bring that energy.”

During his time on The Voice, Snoop earned praise from both fans and contestants for his down-to-earth coaching style and playful banter. While he never captured a win as a coach, he quickly became one of the most entertaining and relatable figures on the panel.

“I didn’t know what I was signing up for at first,” he reflected. “But once I got to the set, I fell in love with the people. I fell in love with helping these young artists find their voice. That’s the part I’ll always remember.”

With Snoop’s departure after Season 28, he joins a small circle of stars who have appeared on The Voice for just two seasons including Shakira, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Nick Jonas, and Chance the Rapper.

And while fans may be disappointed, the Doggfather says he’s leaving with gratitude. “It’s all love, baby,” he said with a smile. “I gave them my time, my heart, and my energy. Now it’s time to pass that red chair on to the next superstar.”

The Voice Season 28 airs this fall on NBC and streams on Peacock.
