With the Blind Auditions nearing the finish line, the coaches on The Voice are becoming much more careful about filling the final spots on their teams.
But 31-year-old Kayleigh Matthews from Tucson, Arizona, gave Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Queen Latifah and Riley Green a reason to make an exception.

Kayleigh delivered a powerful performance of Vince Gill’s When I Call Your Name, impressing all four coaches enough to earn a four-chair turn.
Adam was the first to make his case. Determined to add a strong country singer to his team, he told Kayleigh he would fight harder than ever to become her coach.
“You are such a magnificent talent,” Adam said, adding that he would be honored to work with her.

Queen Latifah was equally impressed, explaining that Kayleigh’s performance became a spiritual experience for her.
“You took me to church,” Queen said. She also praised Kayleigh’s voice and said she believed she could help her find songs that would bring out even more of her talent.
Riley, meanwhile, focused on the challenge of singing a Vince Gill classic.
“To take on Vince Gill, one of the greatest vocalists in country music, that’s big shoes to fill and you really did it,” Riley said.
He added that Kayleigh’s performance reminded him of what he grew up listening to in Alabama and made him feel like he was back home.
Then Kelly made her own pitch, pointing out similarities between Kayleigh’s voice and country singers such as Patty Loveless and LeAnn Rimes.

Kelly also reminded Kayleigh that she had performed a duet with Vince Gill, giving her a connection to the song that Adam and Riley could not match.
“I came back because of voices like yours,” Kelly said. “I like to be moved.”
But the coaching battle quickly turned into one of the funniest moments of the night.
As Adam tried to continue his pitch, Riley interrupted and told him he had already talked enough. He then had a prop team bring out a duck blind and place it directly in front of Adam, blocking him from view.
Carson Daly immediately joked that he had been waiting years to see something like that.
Adam refused to give up. He walked around the blind and asked Kayleigh whether country music was where her heart truly belonged.

Kayleigh, who now lives in Nashville, explained that country music was where her love of music began, but there was also plenty of soul in the music she wanted to make.
That answer immediately caught Adam’s attention.
“I really want you on my team,” he said, telling Kayleigh she could fill the only remaining space for country music on his team.
Riley continued the playful battle, revealing that he had created the duck blind during the commercial break.
The coaches eventually wrapped up their pitches, leaving Kayleigh with an impressive four options.
But instead of choosing one of the coaches most closely connected to country music, she followed her heart and made a surprising decision.
“I would love the opportunity to work with Queen Latifah,” Kayleigh announced.

Queen was thrilled by the choice and explained why she believed Kayleigh could go beyond a traditional country sound.
“I am excited to work with country, I love country music,” Queen said. “But she’s beyond country.”
Queen pointed to her own background as a hip-hop artist who has also released jazz music and performed in musicals, suggesting that Kayleigh could explore several different sides of her voice.
Kayleigh’s unexpected decision gave Queen another standout artist for her team and added another memorable four-chair turn to Season 30.
The Blind Auditions continue Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, with the final night determining the coaches’ completed teams before the competition moves on to the Battles.
