As The Voice season 30 begins taking shape, one question keeps following every coach announcement: will Blake Shelton finally return?
With Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and newcomer Riley Green already confirmed for the milestone season, fans are still hoping the longtime favorite could make an appearance, especially since Blake remains the most recognizable country coach in the show’s history.

Shelton famously stepped away from The Voice in May 2023 after 23 seasons as one of the original coaches. Since then, viewers have continued asking when, or if, he might return to the red chair.
For now, the answer appears to be not anytime soon.
At the time of his exit, Blake explained that family played a huge role in his decision. After marrying Gwen Stefani in 2021, he said he wanted to focus more on being present as a husband and stepfather to her sons Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
“I think the only way for me to really parent right is to step away from being committed to something like The Voice that demands a lot of your time,” he shared. “I got a more important job.”
Now in 2026, his schedule is even busier with his Las Vegas residency taking center stage.

Blake recently announced eight additional dates for his hugely popular residency at Caesars Palace, extending performances through May 2026. The new dates are May 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 21, and 24.
The timing makes things even more interesting because those dates directly overlap with Gwen Stefani’s band No Doubt’s residency at Sphere, located just about a mile away.
“That’ll be interesting because I’ll be in direct competition with my wife,” Blake said, joking that there would likely be “a little bit of trash talking.”
He laughed that it would not exactly be a “friendly competition,” admitting Gwen would probably have an advantage since Sphere holds around 20,000 fans while his venue, The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, is much smaller.
With his residency, touring schedule, and family life, a full-time return to The Voice looks difficult right now. Still, fans continue hoping producers can convince him to at least make a guest appearance for season 30.

That possibility feels even stronger because season 30 is such a major milestone for the show.
The new season is expected to premiere in fall 2026, likely around September, although NBC has not yet announced an official date.
So far, Adam Levine is returning after winning season 29 with contestant Alexia Jayy, giving him his fourth win as a coach. Kelly Clarkson was officially announced shortly after, and Riley Green joined as the newest coach.
“I guess y’all can start calling me coach… see ya this fall,” Green wrote on Instagram after his reveal.

NBC also has not confirmed whether season 30 will return to a four-coach format after season 29 temporarily used only three coaches and once-a-week episodes.
That leaves one chair still open and for many longtime fans, that seat still belongs to Blake Shelton.
While a full comeback may not happen soon, the hope for a surprise appearance remains strong. For many viewers, The Voice season 30 would not feel complete without Blake stepping back into the spotlight, even for just one night.
