Kelly Clarkson is putting her children first and has no plans to change that anytime soon.
The American Idol winner recently opened up about why she is not dating as she focuses on raising her two children, 12-year-old River and 10-year-old Remy.
During a September 30 appearance on Las Culturistas, Clarkson explained that bringing someone new into her life could affect her kids.
“My kids right now, I think there’s a lot behind that, but I think that would rock their boat a little bit,” she said.
But Clarkson is not looking for a relationship right now. The singer said she genuinely loves the life she has built for herself and her children.
“Honestly, this is not a bulls–t answer, I love my life right now,” she shared. “It just got to where I am not exhausted at every point of it.”

Clarkson also made it clear that she is not willing to give up the time she now has with her children for a relationship.
“I feel like if you’re going to be in a relationship, you have to be willing to give some of your time up. And I am unwilling,” she said.
The 44-year-old shares River and Remy with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who died at 48 after a three-year battle with melanoma.
Since his death, Clarkson has made spending time with her children a major part of her life. She said they have been cooking, playing games and spending more everyday moments together, including school drop-offs and pickups.
After ending The Kelly Clarkson Show in August, the singer has also had more time to focus on her family.
Clarkson moved her family to New York City in 2023 when her talk show moved from Los Angeles to the East Coast. She said she now loves raising her children in the city because they are exposed to different cultures, personalities and ways of life.

The singer previously explained that changes in her family life also played a role in her decision to step away from her talk show.
“Our family life, the dynamic changed a bit,” Clarkson told Today earlier this year. “You start seeing life as how precious it is, too.”
For Clarkson, this new chapter appears to be less about dating and more about having time for the people she loves most.
