New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes has dominated the headlines for a variety of reasons.
Hughes was a hero for Team USA last Sunday in the final of the 2026 Winter Olympics, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against Canada. The biggest storyline from that weekend, however, involved President Donald Trump. As he was inviting Hughes and the rest of Team USA’s squad to the White House, he took a jab at the U.S. women’s team.

“I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that,” the president told the men’s hockey team. “I do believe I probably would be impeached.”
When asked about all the controversy surrounding Trump and the U.S. men’s hockey team, Hughes pushed back against those spreading “negative” narratives online.

“Our relationship with them, over the course of being in the Olympic Village, I think we are so tight with their group. After we won the gold medal, we were in the cafeteria at 3:30 a.m. in the morning with them. We go from there, pack our bags and we’re on the bus,” Hughes said. “People are so negative about things. I think everyone in that locker room knows how much we support them, how proud we are of them. The same way we feel about them, they feel about us.”
Is Jack Hughes single?

Since Hughes has been in the spotlight more than usual, fans have been speculating about his love life. It turns out he’s casually seeing one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
Entertainment Tonight reported that Hughes is casually seeing “Greedy” singer Tate McRae. Their relationship is still fairly new but they’re apparently having fun so far.
“They have a lot of the same friends and started hanging out that way,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “He has gone to her shows, and she likes supporting him at games too.”
The source also said that McRae is “not looking for something super serious” at the moment.
McRae, 22, has already earned a Grammy Award nomination and has topped the US Billboard 200 since releasing her first studio album in 2022.
Interestingly enough, McRae was familiar with the NHL community before she started seeing Hughes. That’s because she performed at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.
Who knows? Maybe we’ll see McRae at a few NHL games before this season is over.
