Brian Hickerson has remained out of the spotlight following the sudden death of Hayden Panettiere, but a police report has provided new details about his connection to the actress in her final hours.
Three days after Panettiere died in Greenville, South Carolina, Hickerson was seen in the city on Aug. 19. He kept a low profile while wearing a beige zip-up hoodie, white T-shirt, baseball cap and sunglasses as he got into the passenger seat of an SUV.
According to a Greenville Police Department report obtained by E! News, Hickerson and his brother, Zach, called 911 shortly after 1 p.m. after Panettiere was found unresponsive at an apartment complex in the Judson neighborhood.

When officers arrived, emergency responders were already performing CPR on the actress. Police said there were no obvious physical signs explaining why she had become unresponsive.
The report described Zach as “very emotional” while medical workers attempted to save Panettiere. Brian, however, reportedly did not become emotional until after the actress was pronounced dead shortly after 2:30 p.m.

The police report also identified Hickerson as Panettiere’s boyfriend, with authorities saying his brother provided that information to investigators.
After Panettiere was pronounced dead, Hickerson reportedly gave police a bag containing medications the actress had been taking.
An autopsy was later conducted, but officials have not yet announced an official cause of death. Authorities have also not indicated that Hickerson is responsible for her death.

Panettiere had previously said she was single
The police report comes after Panettiere publicly described herself as single just two months before her death.
In an interview with E! News, the Nashville actress said she was focused on herself and surrounding herself with people who brought out the best in her.
“I’ve been through a bit of trauma in that area,” she said while discussing her past relationships. “So, I’m focusing on me.”
Panettiere had a complicated history with Hickerson. The pair were first linked in 2018 and later went through a turbulent relationship that included domestic violence cases and Hickerson’s 2020 arrest.

Although they eventually reconnected and described their relationship as a friendship, their connection remained a subject of public interest.
At the time of her final interview, Panettiere said she was not completely closed off to love.
“The door is not closed,” she said. “I love to be in love.”
Panettiere’s family continues to mourn

Panettiere died at age 36 and leaves behind her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, whom she shared with former professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
Her family confirmed her death on Aug. 16, describing the actress as an extraordinary presence who brought love and happiness to people around her.
In the days since her death, questions surrounding the circumstances have continued to emerge. Dispatch audio reportedly referenced cardiac arrest and a possible overdose, but no official cause of death has been released.
Hickerson has not publicly commented on Panettiere’s death, and attempts to reach him for comment have not received a response.
For now, investigators have yet to provide a final explanation for what caused the sudden death of the actress, whose career included memorable roles in Heroes and Nashville.
