American Idol’s Breanna Nix sent fans into an emotional whirlwind with her powerful live cover of “No Longer Slaves,” performed on a cruise ship as part of the “Summer Worship Nights” tour.
With her husband playing piano beside her, Nix took the stage and created a moving worship moment that made the ship feel more like a floating church.
The crowd was in tears as Nix delivered the first verse, her voice filled with passion, strength, and spiritual power. Her vocals soared across the deck like a wave, hitting notes so high it felt like the sky could touch the ocean. It wasn’t just a performance—it was a moment of faith shared at sea.
Her emotional delivery and heartfelt connection to the lyrics reminded many of Carrie Underwood’s early gospel moments or even Lauren Daigle’s spiritual ballads. Fans described the atmosphere as “heaven on water” and praised Nix for her authenticity and bold faith.

Worshiping in the Middle of the Ocean
Nix’s performance was part of the multi-day “Summer Worship Nights” cruise, headlined by Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham. Other Christian artists on the lineup included CAIN, Terrian, Josh Baldwin, Benjamin William Hastings, Josiah Queen, and David Leonard. The cruise took place from June 21 to June 26, departing from Florida and visiting several islands in the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos.
Breanna Nix, who finished third on Season 23 of “American Idol,” stood out throughout the competition for her unapologetic faith. During the show, she performed several Christian songs and openly talked about the pressure and criticism she faced for expressing her beliefs. At one point, she revealed that hateful comments made her question herself, saying, “I had a comment that said, ‘She’s not a Christian anymore,’ and it devastated me.”

But Nix never backed down. Her strength and conviction earned her love and support from fans and mentors alike, including encouragement from worship artist Brandon Lake himself after she performed his song “Gratitude” on the show.
Country Legend Randy Travis Sends a Blessing
Just days before the cruise, Nix reunited with “Idol” runner-up John Foster during CMA Fest in Nashville, where the two recorded a duet of Randy Travis’s country classic “I Told You So.”
After posting a short video of the duet on June 9, Nix asked fans if they should finish the song. To their shock, Randy Travis himself responded, asking them to complete it.
“Please finish! I need to hear it!” Travis wrote. “Y’all are incredible artists and will make Carrie and I both proud!”
Overjoyed, Nix replied, “Oh my word! Yes sir!!!! Thank you so very much!! We will get to it!”
She later shared the message on her Instagram Stories with the caption: “The legend himself wants more!!! We’re gonna work this week!”
Fans were thrilled to see the support, with one commenting, “John and Breanna are such talented artists who have proven themselves to let their voices be heard and let their precious hearts shine.”
