There’s one Christmas classic that never goes out of style in Michael Bublé’s house, and that’s Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas,” the Canadian hitmaker told viewers. Bublé finally got the chance to sing with his childhood hero on his Christmas special, with a little help from technology. The late great Crosby’s sonorous bass baritone blended perfectly with Bublé’s golden voice on the duet, and fans could see it meant a lot to Bublé to be able to sing with the legendary crooner on the touching duet.
After all, Bublé grew up on Bing Crosby and would have sung along to his tunes countless times, so it makes sense that the pair sound heavenly harmonizing together. It’s been a trend to do digital duets with late legends, not all of them successful, but The Music Man has to say this one hits the mark. Not only do Bublé and Crosby sound fantastic together, but you can really see Bublé’s heart was in the right place here in wanting to celebrate the great Crosby’s legacy.
Bublé uploaded his duet with Crosby to his YouTube channel, where it drew 6.3 million views. Fans were impressed that the edit looked so real, and added comments such as “Wow Michael was almost in tears the entire time. As he said, he obviously has an emotional attachment to this song, and it shows!” and “I love how Michael Bublé has picked up this mantle of the old crooners and their yearly Christmas specials. Keeps the old school tradition alive.”

Another great Bing duet came when the crooner sang with David Bowie on “Peace On Earth” and “Little Drummer Boy.” The pair sang the duet in September 1977, just one month before Bing passed away. Despite not being long for this world, Bing still had that golden voice there in all its glory. It’s a great collab as Bowie’s lighter baritone blends so gorgeously with Bing’s warm bass baritone.
Irving Berlin wrote “White Christmas” for the musical film Holiday Inn, which hit theatres in 1942. The song was originally recorded by Bing Crosby with Ken Darby Singers and John Scott Trotter and His Orchestra. The Music Man readers won’t be surprised that it was an immediate hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for 11 weeks.
