The past year has been full of wonderful surprises for country music legend and “The Voice” coach Reba McEntire, from her NBC sitcom being renewed for a second season to getting engaged to longtime love (and “Happy’s Place” co-star) Rex Linn.
On November 11, 2025, McEntire, 70, got another surprise. Reps from her record label, MCA, and “Happy’s Place” cast members threw the queen of country an unexpected party on the set of her sitcom. The celebration marked 50 years since she signed her first record deal, with Mercury Records, back on November 11, 1975.

NBCTo mark 50 years of memories in showbiz, McEntire was surprised in front of a studio audience with a giant cake emblazoned with her name, a huge plaque honoring 50 years of accomplishments, tons of balloons, and many of her colleagues wearing t-shirts featuring one of her 32 album covers.
“Reba’s impact on country music is immeasurable,” MCA CEO Mike Harris said in a statement. “For 50 years, she’s set the standard for artistry, authenticity, and work ethic — inspiring generations of artists and fans alike. It’s an incredible honor for all of us at MCA to celebrate this milestone with her and continue the journey with one of the most defining voices in our genre.”
According to MCA, McEntire has sold over 58 million records worldwide, with hits including “Fancy,” “Survivor,” and “Whoever’s in New England.” She is the only female country solo artist to have scored a number one hit in four consecutive decades (1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s).
McEntire has shelves full of awards, too. Over her career, she’s won 16 ACM Awards, 15 American Music Awards, nine People’s Choice Awards, six CMA Awards, and three Grammys. And in February, she could win her fourth Grammy, since she just received her 18th nomination. McEntire is up for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration on “Trailblazer” with Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson.
Reba McEntire Says She’s Happier Than She’s Ever Been
NBCThe last year hasn’t been all sunshine for McEntire. In early August, she lost her cherished stepson, Brandon Blackstock, whom she helped raise with her ex-husband Narvel Blackstock. Brandon, who was also married for several years to “The Voice” coach Kelly Clarkson, died at age 48 following a two-year battle with melanoma.
But his passing has made it all the more clear to McEntire that now is a time to reflect on where she’s been, enjoy the present moment, and be grateful for the gifts in her life.
“I think I’m happier now than I’ve ever been in my life,” she told People in late October. “It’s amazing. It’s wonderful being 70 and getting to do what I get to do at the level I want to do it.”
McEntire stars on NBC’s “Happy Place” on Friday nights and on season 28 of “The Voice” on Monday nights.
