Off Campus creator and showrunner Louisa Levy has responded to online claims that lead actress Ella Bright was paid significantly less than her co-star Belmont Cameli during the first season of the hit Prime Video series, calling the reported salary figures inaccurate.
The discussion began after the Australian podcast In the Vault shared a video in June claiming to reveal the salaries of the show’s principal cast. According to the podcast, Cameli, who plays hockey captain Garrett Graham, earned $30,000 per episode, while Bright, who stars as Hannah Wells, reportedly received $20,000 per episode. Based on those figures, the hosts suggested there was an $80,000 difference between the two leads over the course of the season.
The podcast also alleged that Josh Heuston, who portrays Garrett’s rival Justin, earned $25,000 per episode, while Mika Abdalla was reportedly paid the same amount as Bright. Stephen Kalyn and Antonio Cipriano were said to receive $15,000 per episode. The podcast did not mention Jalen Thomas Brooks’ salary.
Although the figures spread across social media, Levy directly addressed the claims in the comments section of the video.
“Check your sources,” Levy wrote. “These numbers are far from correct.”
She also acknowledged that gender pay inequality remains a genuine issue throughout the entertainment industry but rejected the suggestion that it applied to Off Campus.
“While this is absolutely an issue in the industry, as a female showrunner I fight for gender pay parity in my cast,” she added.
Levy did not provide actual salary figures or elaborate on the cast’s contracts, but her response made clear that she disputes the podcast’s reported numbers.
The discussion attracted attention because Off Campus quickly became one of Prime Video’s breakout series after premiering in May 2026. Based on Elle Kennedy’s bestselling romance novels, the adaptation follows the relationships and friendships of a group of college students, with the first season centering on Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham.

The series was renewed for a second season before its debut, reflecting strong confidence in the adaptation. While Hannah and Garrett led the first installment, Season 2 will shift its primary focus to another couple from Kennedy’s book series.
The upcoming season adapts The Score, the third novel in the Off Campus collection, placing Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis—played by Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn—at the center of the story.
Levy previously explained that she intentionally introduced Allie and Dean’s romance during the first season, even though they become the main couple later in the books. Originally, she had planned to devote an entire episode to developing their relationship, but production changes shortened the season from ten episodes to eight, requiring adjustments to the storyline.
Rather than removing their romance, Levy chose to weave it into the main narrative while keeping much of their relationship hidden from viewers until later episodes. She said this approach felt natural because Allie and Hannah are already best friends, while Dean is part of the central friend group, allowing their relationship to develop alongside the primary storyline.
Levy also assured fans that there is still plenty of material left to explore when Allie and Dean officially become the focus of Season 2.

The second season will continue expanding the world of Off Campus by laying the foundation for future storylines as well. Antonio Cipriano, who plays Logan, has confirmed that viewers will begin seeing the early stages of his romance with Grace, portrayed by India Fowler. Although Logan’s full love story belongs to a later book, Cipriano said audiences will get a glimpse of their relationship developing in the upcoming season.
While speculation about cast salaries generated significant online discussion, Levy’s public response serves as the only official statement regarding the issue. Without confirmed contract details from Prime Video or the production team, the reported figures remain unverified.
For now, attention is shifting back to the series itself as Off Campus prepares to continue adapting Elle Kennedy’s popular novels for a growing audience.
