At 75 years old, music legend Phil Collins is reflecting on his storied life, career, and personal relationships. Appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored on October 2, 2026, the former Genesis frontman opened up about the personal challenges that shaped his journey, pointing to his three ended marriages as his primary life regret.

Collins candidly admitted that going through three divorces was never his intention, though he noted that those relationships ultimately brought him his five children: Joely, 54, Simon, 50, Lily, 37, Nic, 25, and Matthew, 21. Reflecting on his romantic past, the singer explained that while he initiated one split, he was pushed out of the other two.
The breakdown of his first marriage to Andrea Bertorelli, which lasted from 1975 to 1980, stemmed largely from the grueling schedule of Genesis, which once completed three American tours, two European tours, and a Japanese tour within a single year. Following his split from Bertorelli, Collins married Jill Tavelman in 1984 before their 1996 divorce. His third marriage to Orianne Cevey began in 1999, ended in 2008, saw a temporary reconciliation, and officially concluded in 2020.

Despite past distance—including emotional moments addressed in daughter Lily Collins’ 2017 memoir—the family has experienced a powerful reconciliation. Last year, all five children gathered with Collins for a moving Christmas dinner, where Lily, who welcomed her first child Tove in January 2025 with husband Charlie McDowell, shared her gratitude that her daughter would know her grandfather. The family now maintains a close bond through a shared group chat.
Ahead of his solo induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November 2026, Collins shared that he is currently healthier following past struggles with his knees and kidneys. Although he has not played drums in 15 years and no longer keeps a set at home, the veteran artist expressed deep peace with his family’s newfound closeness.
